“Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more”
I thought it was just me, but it seems there are a few people going through transitions right now.
And with the potential for any kind of change there comes certain realizations… good bad and unoriginal. When decisions have to be made there seems always to be someone, something, some pre-existing legacy that is questioned. Most often it’s so close to impossible to see any answer clearly.
Watching “500 Days of Summer” last week Friday, on top of how purely cool the film was, I walked away with particular dialogue resounding in my brain and heart space. It touched on transition, and the guts it takes to honestly move forward. It was a relief to hear that a person can “just know” when something is right. Which surely means you should “just know” when it isn’t, right? ( see what I did there;)
And we do, I think we do. Which is why we can think and talk and cry and chuckle shamelessly about stuff. But what about actually following through? To know is one thing, but to know and then act… to do what has to be done… to desperately cling onto the integrity that walks hand in hand with action… to save yourself from the worst part of yourself… well, that’s another thing. I think.
Easier said than done? Always. Isn’t everything? Like going down the road to buy milk.
But everyone needs a milky cup of tea once in a while.
“500 Days of Summer” is playing at the Labia on Kloof Street right now.
go see the show times at the labia. you should really see this film. it's delicious.
love jojo
Thank you for the tip, there are such rubbish films at the moment as the cinemas are waiting to release all the brilliant films all at once, of course not taking into consideration that its summer in the southern hemisphere and that we'd all rather be on the beach, inside a wave, having a cocktail or all three at the same time, than be watching a movie! My sister said this movie was weird, but then again, she walked out of Being John Malcovish, so I officially will no longer be listening to her movie crits and will be going to watch this movie!
